Weekend Update

  • We apologize for our absence this weekend. The Dropping Timber staff had a busy weekend including marriages, bachelor parties, watching Dolemite, top secret sniper missions to countries you have never heard of, Portland zoo trips, gittin' er done, chowing Muchas Gracias burritos, playing kickball, attending champagne brunches, and of course, watching Timber games.
  • The Good: The Timbers clinched the Commissioner's Cup yesterday after Carolina took care of Puerto Rico 2-1. As a result of winning the regular season, the Timbers will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
  • The Bad: Portland could have clinched on Friday night, but was stunned at home by the Aztex 2-1, with their only goal being an own goal.
  • The Ugly: Portland fell 1-0 to basement dwelling Cleveland City tonight, in another shocking loss. Cleveland's 3 yellow cards, a late red card, six minutes of stoppage time, and a huge shot differential weren't enough for the Timbers to pull together to take even a draw away from the game.

  1. Until now I didn't realize how bad a losing feels. Going 24 games unbeaten has made me greedy, and I expect to win every match. I hope the Timbers can finish the season with a solid victory over Cleveland this Thursday. I think Keel will score a hat trick!

  2. I was so pissed off after Cleveland I walked away and didn't cheer the team at the end. Maybe I'm a bad sport, but DAMN! We should be playing harder right now.
