- Carolina and Montreal fought to a 1-1 tie at Saputo Stadium, bringing the Timbers magic number down to 9.
- Puerto Rico picked up a win over Minnesota, keeping them in contention for the commissioner's cup.
- Rochester's tie against the Whitecaps made it mathematically impossible for them to take the top spot. The race is now officially down to four teams.
The Timbers would have to have a total breakdown to NOT win the Cup. Basically, they'd have to not WIN anymore games the rest of the year and they've been playing too well and they have an easy rest of schedule. Timbers take it all this year!
ReplyDeleteHBK FC- that's wrong. The Timbers could win two more and still not take the cup.
ReplyDeleteStop voting for Cronin as MVP people. Check the stats. Keita is the runaway team MVP.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting HBK, we appreciate it, but Dan is right. This is a closer race than you might think. The Timbers need to focus and make sure they finish the season strong. If Carolina or Charleston somehow win out, then anything can happen.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jobin - soccer isn't just about scoring goals, Keita gets all the glory, but players like Cronin, Hayes, and Mcmanus are equally crucial to our success. Their contributions are simply less glamorous and often go unseen.
ReplyDeleteAs amazing as the streak is, you have to keep in mind that there were 10 ties during those games. It's not like the Timbers are a lock to win out.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just about goals, it's also about assists. Assists and goals win games. Keita = MVP.
ReplyDeleteQED.
I just voted twice Kevin.
ReplyDeleteThat's nice Joban, celebrating democracy, eh? Keita scores the goals, but thats the job he was brought here to do. And he's succeeding at his job, but there's still 5 games left.
ReplyDeleteI don't like your passive aggressive misspelling of my name. You should stick to writing articles and not commenting.
ReplyDeleteI like turtles too. And I voted for Keita twice also. How can you not? He's leading the USL in scoring and assists!
ReplyDeleteNice work HBK. Glad to see someone else who "gets it". Looks like another douche voted for Cronin today.
ReplyDeleteWhat would Keita have to do to get your guys MVP vote? Score 2000 goals and singlehandedly take the Timbers into the EPL? I wonder if it's because he's Guinean?
ReplyDeleteJobin - what are you Keita's mother or something? I agree that Keita is one of the leading MVP canidates of this team, but I think that when you've gone 23 matches unbeaten that there is plenty of worthy praise to go around. But maybe more credit should go to guys like Mcmanus or Hayes, some of the unsung heroes of this team.
ReplyDeleteOh, and i also like turtles. Especially ol' married turtle couples, like the Slowskys from those Comcast commercials.
