It was a good match. In the end, the teams ended up tied, and the Timbers lost the aggregate series.
We'd like to stay off our soap box this time and just hear people's thoughts on the game, the playoffs, the season and the future. You can complain about the refs too and we won't mind.
I had a lot of fun. Hated walking away from PGE Park without having a championship game to look forward too. The commish cup feels like a bit of a consolation prize too at this point. I do think the game was over-reffed in the second half.
ReplyDeleteStick with Dropping Timber in the offseason and we'll be sure to keep you updated with any Timbers news that crops up, as well as keep you entertained with soccer news from the rest of the world. Thanks to Jobin, HBK and ScottM (and heck even all you anonymous guys) as well for all your comments.
Absolute Bullshit:
ReplyDeleteAnother defensive breakdown occurred 11 minutes later, and the Timbers allowed a deflating goal after a corner kick from Nash. A scramble ensued inside the box, with the Timbers freezing after what they thought was a handball. No call was made and Marlon James kicked a slow shot that dribbled into the back of the net.
"That third goal was definitely a hand ball. We stopped, thinking the referee was going to blow his whistle," Wilkinson said. "
It was good game. I didn't expect to see so many goals. The ref was shit!
ReplyDeleteI agree anonymous - well, I didn't expect to see so many goals from vancouver at least. It was still a great season. Hard to complain when you go from last to first and had a 24 game unbeaten streak as well.
ReplyDeleteJobin - I think the hand ball called on Suzuki in Vancouver's box was much more blatant. Suzuki was clearly tripped to the ground by lyle martin, not to mention the ball was hit by martin's hand, made pretty obvious on the replay as well as by the trajectory of the ball when it was struck. HORIIBLE CALL. Makes me sick.
