"I'm a little gutted to be honest," Donovan said. "I don't know how they stole that last goal from us. I'm not sure what the call was. He (the referee) wouldn't tell us what the call was."
"We asked the ref many times what it was or who it was on and he wouldn't or couldn't explain it," Donovan said. "I don't know what to think of the call because I didn't see any foul, just a normal free kick and a goal."
We're fine. 2 pts robbed from us, but we're still in good shape. After England beats Algeria then they'll be tied with Slovenia w/ 4 pts. So for Game 3, as long as we beat Algeria and somebody comes out a winner in the England/Slovenia match then we'll take 2nd in the group. Even if England and Slovenia draw in the final match then it'll be a 3-way tie with 5 pts and it'll come down to goals scored. So we need to put a beat down on Algeria next week.
ReplyDeleteRobbed!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed with our defensive showing. But every team has strengths and weaknesses. Our strength seems to be a resilience to defeat and a desire to win. Slovenija just decided to take advantage of our weak defending and nullify our scoring chances with American Football style blocking in the box. It's a shame when a ref ruins the natural outcome of the game by being stupid. Oh well. I just saw him working the sidelines during the Italy v. NZ match. That's probably where he belongs.
