Manchester City vs. Portland Timbers July 17th`

In a taste of what's to come, Portland will play host to English Primer League squad Manchester City, in a friendly on July 17th at University of Portland's Merlo Field. Manchester City just finished the EPL season in fifth place, and their first game of their US tour will be right here in Ptown. In a gift to season ticket holders, tickets will only be available to season ticket holders. Pro-rated season ticket packages are still available though portlandtimbers.com, so go buy some you lousy bum.In a week that started with the prestigious Boca Juniors friendly announcement, Man City is the right kind of topping before we head into the next two games.

For those of you who may think Man City is not that big of a deal, well you are dumb. Same goes to the people who don't care about Boca, you don't know football, so GTFO. Man City traces its roots to the 1880's, making our club look like its not even in its preteens yet. They have won 4 FA Cups and two first league championships. The heyday of Man City football may have been a while ago, but with new extremely wealthy ownership as of 2008, Man City should be a contender in the EPL for many years to come.

A toast is in order to the people at the Timbers front office for organizing two excellent friendlies with two world renowned clubs. People, the Portland Timbers are magic, so get used it.

Guess the Exhibition Club Contest
With little credibility to be lost, we told our readers that Man City was in, and allowed you to guess the club for a prize. Three people choose wisely by agreeing with us, Micheal, a fellow blogger from the Offside, HCBK FC, a loyal commenter and Greener99, a man who knows opportunity when he sees it. So what's the prize? A shot at Cheerful Bullpen of bottom shelf whiskey. CONGRATULATIONS! You can choose the shot or shoot us an email at droppingtimber@gmail.com with your mailing address and we will send you out a fabulous mystery prize instead of the shot. You have chosen wisely once, but can you repeat your feat?
