shittle have nothing to do with the sonics moving to oklahoma, the clubs are/were in no way related. also yes it would be great if our hated rival moved to another city, that way we lose our biggest match of the year. genius.
also the rhythm of your proposed taunt is that of a high school basketball chant (read: it sounds fucking shit).
It's all in good fun in my opinion, a little salt on old wounds. These are the things that make the rivalry what it is. People are passionate, its exciting. And it's gonna be rockin at PGE on Wednesday night.
Just to be charitable, I'll respond to the rest of your points though. Regarding the clubs not being directly related, as I'm sure you are aware, the pre-MLS Sounders' attendance records were so dismal, it's actually more likely that curerent Sounders fans were Sonic fans than pre-MLS Sounders' fans. Technically the pre-MLS Sounders and MLS Sounders aren't directly related either, but we didn't break off the rivalry or turn our hatred to Kitsap. We hate Seattle, and those douchebags lost their basketball team to Oklahoma of all places, it's funny.
care to expand on that? it's funny.
ReplyDeleteI think it's hilarious. I'll join in.

good to see this blog's readers are as ignorant of football culture as those on talktimbers.
ReplyDeleteIf Seattle burnt down in a bonfire we wouldn't have a rivalry! Oh no, we need to change that chant!

ReplyDeleteGood point Dan about the Seattle bonfire chant, we must change it or get rid of it forever.
ReplyDeleteBuild a healthy sustainable local economy!

ReplyDeleteNext thing you know people will demand show tunes be used in chants. I don't want Broadway Musicals used for inspiration for our chants.
