Timbers fall to the Rhinos 1 nil

The Timbers controlled much of the second half, but could not overcome a 22nd minute goal by Kenold Versailles. Isaac Kissi poked the ball for Versailles who blasted a shot past Cronin from outside the box. The Timbers only managed to get one shot on goal in the first half.

Early in the 2nd half the Rhinos were rewarded a PK, on a hazy foul. In what looked to be physical match, the awarded PK seem unjustified, but maybe the future replay will show different. Never the less, Ryan Heins choked on the pk and Cronin made a great save.

The Timbers came out attacking in the 2nd half and in 2010 fashion put 9 shots on goal to no avail. Lopez had two solid free kicks that were on frame, and forced the Rhino's keeper Neal Kitson to make the saves.

The Timbers return to PGE Park this Wednesday to face the NSC Minnesota Stars after a season long four game road trip. They managed to get only 4 points out of a total of 12 possible on this trip. Hopefully a return to playing in front of all the Timber faithful will get us 3 points this Wednesday.

We last faced the Rhinos back on April 17th for the season opener at PGE park. That match was decided by one of the dumbest handballs ever seen at PGE Park. The handball and the resulting stutter step pk by Pore is all in this video.

We have earned four points out of a possible 9 in the past three matches on this road trip. The Timbers return to PGE Park next Wednesday.

Timbers Sign Dutch Forward Ibad Muhamadu

The Timbers upped the ante for a lagging offense, by signing Ibad Muhamadu from Holland's Eerste Divisie squad FC Dordrecht. The 28 year old has spent most of his playing days Holland, with shorts stints in Germany and Belgium. The Timbers hope that Ibad can bring some solid finishing to the Timbers front line.

The announcement was made by Gavin Wilkinson on Tuesday's Talk Timbers on 95.5 the game (podcast here). Ibad had been on trail with the Timbers over the last few months, and had to returtn to Holland to deal with visa issues. The official announcement should be made on Wednesday.
