Kevin "Goldie" Goldthwaite is a 27 year old defender from the NY Red Bulls. Along with Dike he was standout player for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He was selected 17th overall in the 2005 MLS Super Draft by the San Jose Earthquakes. He was loaned to the Timbers during the 2005 campaign, in which he made 10 appearances and logged 892 minutes. He bounced around the MLS ending up in New York, making 52 appearances from 2007 to 2010. In 2008 he helped NY to the playoffs and earned the defender of year award from the club. He was waived by the Red Bulls earlier this month to make room for Rafael Márquez.
He is expected to be fit to play in two weeks according to the press release.
