Portland Timbers

The Portland Timbers will play host to Costa Rica's Puntarenas FC this Saturday at PGE Park. Only 4 games into the season, the 1st place Timbers are coming off an exciting and hotly contested victory over league rivals Vancouver this past Thursday as they head into this international friendly. The Timbers will probably use this opportunity to keep working on some of the things they've been trying to find improvement on - possession, organization, spacing, communication, and chemistry. It should also be an opportunity to find playing time for more of their deep roster. Expect that younger players like Alex Nimo will see a little more action on the field Saturday evening.
Puntarenas FC is one of the top team's playing in the Union de Clubes Futbol de la Primera Division (UNAFUT), which is the highest level of soccer played in Costa Rica. Puntarenas FC was founded in 2004, but has already become a top franchise, reaching the semi-finals on multiple occasions in their league playoffs. Considered one of the best soccer teams in the North and South American continents, Puntarenas FC also qualified and competed in the CONACAF Champions Cup in 2007.
Current Roster (from Wikipedia)
After Saturday's match, Portland will have 11 days off to rest, practice, and prepare before their next regular season game against recently promoted franchise Crystal Palace Baltimore FC on Thursday, May 13th @ PGE Park.
