Algeria faced one of the toughest roads to South Africa, which included an intense play off with long time rival Egypt. The rivalry between these two is so intense, that fist fights on the field are common, Egyptian fans attacked the Algerian team's bus and injuring four of the Algerian players and this lead to diplomatic riffs, in which Algeria actually shut off gas exports to Egypt. I love football.
Algeria is in Group C with the USA, England and Slovenia, of which they have never faced in any international competition. This will be the third appearance in a World Cup for Algeria, as they qualified in 82 and 86. They have never been past the first round and hopefully will not make 2010 their first time, for the US's sake.
